ACCA jobs in UAE | 16 useful job hunting tips

I always receive a lot of queries about ACCA jobs in Dubai / UAE . Mostly fresh ACCA qualified part qualified students ask these queries . Usually , you guys ask that  i have one or two optional ACCA exams to clear or i am qualified / part qualified and want to visit / move Dubai for a job.

I have no prior experience, so i need your suggestions how can i get a job in UAE.

To answer these queries i started to write this article. And after a lot of  careful research on forums , meeting with experienced persons and considering my own views i am able to post this article for you now. #Tip1: Remembering Amir khan,s movie 3 idiots , i just want to say , do not run behind jobs , prove your self enough that a job itself comes to you.  Do not learn or educate yourself, just for availing or achieving a job. "Q k jis kam k peche ap bhago gy wo ap k agay bhagay ga" :p .

#Tip2: Learn accounting softwares before visiting or applying for jobs in Dubai / Middle East . At least do quick books , tally , sap r12 and then apply , you may find a job.

#Tip3: Apply on dubizzle to find jobs in UAE . But mostly in Dubai job hunt season starts after September then there will be alot of jobs in the market.
#Tip4: Try to visit companies and their HR department  in personal and keep your demand for salary low.
 Prepare yourself well for the interviews must showcase basic accounting knowledge e.g. double entry etc.

#Tip5: Don,t rely on CV,s sent  through emails only .Check websites of companies & their HR section apply through them and it will be better if you contact their HR dept. through phone or visit their offices one by one.

#Tip6: It does not matter you have experience or not . Mostly job tasks and roles are easy ones like entering data in softwares .Even you don,t get reply if you have experience too , it means there is something else that works for a job hunt e.g reference.

 #Tip7: Master your accounting & finance skills , that means P2 & P4 paper of ACCA they usually ask questions related to these two areas in the interview.

#Tip8: And excel skills are very important here in UAE. They might handover their laptop to you to test your excel skills. Because your 1st year of experience will be as a junior or an assistant accountant and they usually work on excel and accounting softwares.
 #Tip9: I myself have given many interviews in different companies and they usually test your excel skills, English and confidence. In very rare cases they will question something related to accounting since u have no experience, they don,t expect much accounting knowledge from you.

#Tip10: What I have observed is that prior experience is vital to land in UAE for jobs. Keep your Excel skills and other accounting skills abreast/updated.

#Tip11: Stay confident in your job interviews. Your personality, attitude and appearance should support you. Your Gender can be a plus for certain jobs/industries also.
#Tip12: In Abu Dhabi it,s very difficult to find a job as fresh candidate so you should directly try to visit Dubai .

#Tip13: Mine two friends visited Dubai after qualifying ACCA but they came back without getting a job. They both were offered  very low paid jobs in some irrelevant fields. Working conditions and residence was also not acceptable , so they left those jobs and came back with empty hands and were demotivated a lot. Their final advice to me was at least 1.5 year experience is needed to get a reasonable job in UAE.

#Tip14: Contact some one who is experienced and is doing job in UAE . Ask them for information about how to apply and search job there in UAE.

#Tip15: Without experience don't even try to come in UAE. In my suggestion , first get at least 3 years experience then come. i got 2 years experience then i came in UAE after passing 11 papers of ACCA and i got a job.

 #Tip16: Apply online on dubizzle , drop CV,s by hand too , read Khaleej times daily and apply on the jobs advertised in it.
